Program Description: Due to revisions to The Joint Commission standards in 2007 to 2010, many organizations have been struggling to ensure that they clearly understand the circumstances for which The Joint Commission requires Focused Professional Practice evaluation (FPPE), and that they are prepared to implement an effective, compliant Ongoing Professional Practice (OPPE) process. Standards relating to practitioner performance data are not brand new, but there is now greater emphasis on practitioner specific measurement and the use of this information to support the reappointment of physicians and advanced practice allied health professionals. This one-day program will provide a comprehensive review of The Joint Commission medical staff standards, their effect on the accreditation process, and the requirements for credentialing and privileging for all licensed professionals who independently provide patient care with a comprehensive review of Focused Professional Practice Evaluation and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation. Participants will be provided with the tips needed to achieve compliance and implement a more effective competency management program at their facility. As a value-added benefit, attending members will be given access to a website containing policies, templates, and examples of interest to those involved in the medical staff and quality function.
