Laser Safety Training Program Featured

You are invited to attend SAHA's Laser Safety Training Program!

When: Saturday March 26, 2011.  8:00am-4:30pm

Where: WakeMed Raleigh- The Andrews Center

This course is designed to provide operating room personnel with a foundation of laser biophysics, tissue interaction, and safety.  Technical aspects as well as established practices will be reviewed on the multi-wavelength lasers.  Laser safety protocols will be addressed according to the ANSI 136.3 "Safe Use of Lasers in the Healthcare Facilities Standards".  Instruction is accomplished through the didactics, and discussion.

 Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course each participant should be able to:

 - Discuss laser biophysics and tissue interactions.

- List the safety standards according to ANSI, Association of PeriOperative Nurses, and the American Society for Lasers in Medicine & Surgery.

- Describe the essential steps that must be in place to ensure safety for patients and personnel.

 -Describe the roles & responsibilities of the healthcare professional using laser.

 - List 3 precautions taken for upper airway laser procedures.

 Participants will be awarded 7.8 Contact Hours of ongoing education
